According to Hindu mythology, Lakshmi emerged during the churning of the ocean by the gods and demons.

She is worshipped during Diwali, the festival of lights when people pray for her blessings for prosperity and wealth.

The goddess is also associated with fertility, love, and beauty and is often depicted wearing gold jewellery and beautiful garments.

Whenever Vishnu incarnates on earth, Lakshmi accompanies him as his wife.

The name “Lakshmi” is derived from the Sanskrit word “Lakshya,” which means goal or aim, signifying her role as the bestower of wealth and prosperity.
