Jagdish Chandra Bose was an Indian scientist and polymath.

He is also known as the Father of Radio Science. 

He was born on November 30, 1858, in Mymensingh, Bengal Presidency (now in Bangladesh).

His father’s name was Bhagawan Chandra Bose.  

His father was a Deputy Magistrate. 

His mother’s name was Bama Sundari Bose.  

Bose is best known for his groundbreaking work in the field of plant physiology. 

He demonstrated that plants have similar responses to stimuli as animals do.

Bose invented the crescograph, an instrument that measures plant growth. 

Bose made significant contributions to the development of wireless telegraphy. 

He was a pioneer in the use of semiconductor junctions for detecting radio waves.

In 1917, Bose established the Bose Institute in Kolkata. 

He also served as the director of the Bose Institute. 

He died on November 23, 1937, in Giridih, Jharkhand.

Bose believed that plants “feel pain and understand affection” just like humans. 

Bose married Abala Bose in 1887.
