Maharaja Ranjit Singh was the founder of the Sikh Empire. 

His birth name was Buddh Singh.

He was the first Maharaja of the Sikh Empire. 

He is also known as Sher-e-Punjab or “Lion of Punjab”. 

Maharaja Ranjit Singh was born on November 13, 1780, in Gujranwala, Punjab, Pakistan. 

His father’s name was Sardar Maha Singh, and his mother’s name was Raj Kaur. 

He became the “Maharaja of Punjab” at the age of 21. 

Under his leadership, the Sikh Empire grew to include most of Punjab and parts of present-day Afghanistan and Pakistan.

He was known for his military campaigns and strategic alliances with other regional powers. 

Ranjit Singh was a patron of the arts and culture, promoting Sikh literature and commissioning beautiful works of art.

He was a secular leader, known for treating all his subjects equally, regardless of religion or caste. 

He died on June 27, 1839, in Lahore, Pakistan, at the age of 58. 

He was succeeded by his son Kharak Singh.
