PT Usha is an Indian former track and field athlete. 

Her full name is Pilavullakandi Thekkeparambil Usha.  

She is also known as Golden Girl & Payyoli Express. 

She was born on June 27, 1964, in Kozhikode, Kerala, India. 

Her father’s name is E.P.M. Paithal, and her mother’s name is T.V. Lakshmi.  

PT Usha is often referred to as the “Queen of Indian Track and Field.” 

In December 2022, she was elected the President of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).  

She is the first woman president of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).  

She achieved international recognition in the early 1980s and became one of India’s most celebrated athletes. 

Usha represented India in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics and narrowly missed winning a medal, finishing fourth in the 400 meters hurdles event. 

She won numerous medals and accolades at international competitions, including the Asian Games and Asian Championships. 

PT Usha’s remarkable speed and agility earned her the nickname “Payyoli Express.”

She set several national records in various track events during her career. 

Her coach was O. M. Nambiar.  

She was awarded the Padma Shri in 1985 and the Arjuna Award in 1984 for her outstanding contributions to Indian athletics.
