सीवी रमन एक भारतीय भौतिक विज्ञानी थे।
उनका पूरा नाम चन्द्रशेखर वेंकटरमन था।
सीवी रमन का जन्म 7 नवंबर 1888 को तिरुचिरापल्ली, तमिलनाडु, भारत में हुआ था।
उनके पिता का नाम चंद्रशेखर रामनाथन अय्यर और माता का नाम पार्वती अम्मल था।
उनके पिता गणित और भौतिकी के व्याख्याता थे।
प्रकाश के प्रकीर्णन पर उनके कार्य और रमन प्रभाव की खोज के लिए उन्हें 1930 में भौतिकी के नोबेल पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया था।
डॉ. सीवी रमन भौतिकी में नोबेल पुरस्कार प्राप्त करने वाले पहले भारतीय थे।
रमन प्रभाव की खोज के उपलक्ष्य में भारत में हर साल 28 फरवरी को राष्ट्रीय विज्ञान दिवस मनाया जाता है।
उन्हें 1954 में भारत के सर्वोच्च नागरिक सम्मान भारत रत्न से सम्मानित किया गया था।
1949 में, उन्होंने बैंगलोर में रमन अनुसंधान संस्थान की स्थापना की थी।
वह विज्ञान में नोबेल पुरस्कार जीतने वाले पहले एशियाई और गैर-श्वेत व्यक्ति थे।
उन्होंने 6 मई 1907 को लोकसुंदरी अम्मल से शादी की थी।
उनके दो बेटे थे; चंद्रशेखर रमन और वेंकटरमण राधाकृष्णन।
21 नवंबर 1970 को 82 वर्ष की आयु में उनका निधन हो गया था।

CV Raman was an Indian physicist.
His full name was Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman.
CV Raman was born on 7 November 1888 in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India.
His father’s name was Chandrasekhara Ramanathan Iyer and his mother’s name was Parvathi Ammal.
His father was a lecturer in mathematics and physics.
He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930 for his work on the scattering of light and for the discovery of the Raman effect.
Dr CV Raman was the first Indian to receive the Nobel Prize in Physics.
Every year, National Science Day is observed on February 28 in India, to commemorate the discovery of the Raman Effect.
He was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour, in 1954.
He founded the Indian Journal of Physics in 1926.
In 1949, he established the Raman Research Institute in Bangalore.
He was the first Asian and non-white individual to win a Nobel Prize in science.
He died on 21 November 1970 at the age of 82.
