Lord Dalhousie was a colonial administrator in British India.  

Lord Dalhousie was the Governor-General of India from 1848 to 1856.

His full name was James Andrew Broun-Ramsay. 

Lord Dalhousie was born on 22 April 1812 in Scotland. 

His family was of Scottish origin. 

His father’s name was George Ramsay, and his mother’s name was Christian Ramsay.  

He entered politics in 1837.  

He played a significant role in the expansion of British territories in India through the Doctrine of Lapse. 

Dalhousie is known for implementing several modernizing reforms in India during his tenure. 

Dalhousie’s policies often faced criticism for their impact on the Indian economy and traditional social structures. 

He died on 19 December 1860 at the age of 48.
