Louis Pasteur was a renowned French chemist and microbiologist. 

Louis Pasteur was born on 27 December 1822 in Dole, France. 

His father’s name was Jean-Joseph Pasteur. 

His mother’s name was Jeanne-Etiennette Roqui.  

He is best known for his groundbreaking discoveries in the field of vaccination and pasteurization. 

In the 1860s, he successfully demonstrated that heating liquids to a certain temperature (now known as pasteurization) could kill harmful bacteria, making food safer for consumption. 

Louis Pasteur developed the first vaccine for rabies. 

He founded the Pasteur Institute in Paris in 1887. 

Louis Pasteur married Marie Laurent in 1849.  

He died on 28 September 1895 at the age of 72.  

Throughout his career, Pasteur received numerous accolades and honours, including the prestigious Legion of Honor Grand Cross, the Copley Medal and the Rumford Medal.
